Managing interfacial properties of planar perovskite solar cells using Y3N@C80 endohedral metallofullerene

Fullerene derivatives have a wide range of applications in perovskite solar cells (PSCs), such as electron transport layers (ETLs), interfacial modifiers, and additives. However, there been few studies the use endohedral metallofullerenes (EMFs) to improve performance PSCs. Here, novel EMF (Y3N@C80) was synthesized used an modifier PSC devices based on SnO2 ETL. Energy level mismatches detrimental carrier recombination observed with pristine ETL, but these issues are alleviated assistance Y3N@C80. A significant increase open-circuit voltage from 1.106 V (SnO2) 1.14 (SnO2-Y3N@C80), power conversion efficiency 20.59% 21.66%, marked reduction hysteresis were observed, which attributed more suitable conduction band energy levels effective extraction at SnO2-Y3N@C80/perovskite interface. In addition, stability target improved, may be due hydrophobicity Y3N@C80 trap states.
